Hi all, really looking for some help here. I?ve tried researching this on my own but I?m very confused now.

My DS3 had his 1st birthday earlier this month. He was weaned at about 6 months. He was breastfed until 8 months (then had too many gnashing teeth) and had Hipp stage 2 milk instead. About the time of introducing solid food and formula milk he developed constipation. Over several months this became very severe and he had huge rock solid poo?s which eventually made his bum hole bleed. Copious amounts of lactulose eased the problem slightly but never resolved it.

We moved on to Hipp stage 3 milk (i.e. the 1 year plus stuff) but also realised we could transfer onto cow?s milk at the age of 1 too. So I began adding cow?s milk to his bottle in stages. For about 3 days he had 5fl formula and 1floz cow?s, then 4 and 2 and currently we are on 3 and 3. There has been a MASSIVE change in his poo?s. He is now going 3 times a day and it?s very diarrhoea like.

Is this a type of lactose intolerance or milk protein allergy?

( BTW he has a 6floz bottle on waking before breakfast and the same amount before bed.)

Could you ask a doctor or health visitor about this? It does sound like he might have an intolerance of some sort. There are specialist formulas that you might be able to get on prescription.
