Last Thursday dd1 had quite a bad reaction to an unknown source. I didn't realise what it was, took her to the Dr expecting the Dr to say its nothing and got sent to the children's hospital. We spent a scary (for me) 2 days in hospital (although she was allowed home to sleep as she wasn't settling and keeping other babies awake) and they have finally referred her to the allergy clinic.

However we have been told they probably won't test her for any allergies Hmm but right now I don't care after pleading and asking for over a year she has a referral!

Interestingly enough I asked the Dr if she could now be referred (as we were leaving to go to the hospital) and she said she probably wouldn't need to be Hmm

They should at least skin prick test. I would push for her to be tested in the clinic.

I had a crap allergy consultant after my ds had a huge reaction to milk. He only skin pricked for the milk which obviously was positive. ds then kept having reactions so I saw someone privately who through skin prick test discovered ds is highly allergic to egg and less so to nuts, sesame and lentils. Also dogs, house dust mites, some grasses and some pollens.

Of course some of the above cause greater reactions than others but I can't imagine what I might have put him through had I not seen someone else.

So I think what I'm trying to say is don't let them fob you off! Plus make sure they give you some sort of allergy plan and if you don't already carry it get some piriton.

I've found that sometimes you have to fight a bit to make yourself heard and taken seriously.

Phew that was a bit of a waffle, sorry!

I'm prepared to fight and get the skin pricked testing done, but at least this is a step in the right direction, shes seeing the right people
