Redness around eyes

Hi all.
My daughter is 9 months old, and after her bottle gets really red skin around her eyes. Almost like she has a blush to her skin. This only happens after her formula, (Aptimil no.3) occasionally its accompanied by some swelling around the eyes too. Although not every time. other than this she's also constipated a lot.

Does anyone have experience of this? Is it an allergy symptom or something else?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

If this has only started happening recently then it is unlikely to be the formula as most stages have very similar ingredients, and the most common allergy you would notice in my opinion from formula would be a milk allergy which you would have noticed much sooner with different symptoms.
However if you do suspect it to be something in the aptimil stage 3 then check the stage 3 ingredients against the stages 1 and 2 ingrediets and query possible allergies to any changed ingredients with your GP. But in my experience it'll just be a case of more iron added etc.
As to what the actual cause of this is I'm afraid I'm not sure, is it possible she is quietly straining after eating? Some babies go completly red in the face while straining when constipated but it's a possibility.
I'd have a chat with your health visitor about both issues.

Thanks for the reply pocketsocks. She's not straining when the redness is there. It normally lasts for a couple of hours or so, and mainly in the mornings (I should have raised that before, now im no longer sure it's an allergy...!) her evening bottle doesn't produce quite he same effect
