what does a cat allergy feel like ?

i had 9 cats growing up so im was pretty sure i wasnt allergic thats was until we got our kitten (our first family pet) on wednesday
since then ive had a slight cough and dry funny feeling eyes - my imagination or something else ?
also can you become allergic even if you have had lost of exposure before ?

Hello, I had cats growing up. I was a veterinary nurse, and also owned a cat.

Then I got a lovely kitten. And I was allergic to her. My eyes itched like made, the sides of my eye balls were actually a little baggy with clear fluid (niiice!).

It was my only sympton, but my brother and mum get streaming red swollen eyes, sneeze and cough like mad.

They own cata though its possie to build up a resistance. Although I havent with mine two years on.

Its possible to get something called 'petal cleanse' for the cat but I personally think that would be an unpleasant stress for the cat.
