Really bad burn-like rash...

I am allergic to lots of things so I'm used to skin rashes, hives, etc...but this one is a whole new league. I know what the irritant was, but its a week since it started and its just getting worse and worse, sore, itchy, dry, scaly, bruised feeling under the skin, and growing. And in a really uncomfortable place that means my clothes are really irritating it.
Any advice on treating it? I have daily oilatum plus baths anyway, and using silcocks to moisturise it, but I need something more. I have Dermovate but hesitate to use it as its so strong.

Any advice?

My advice would be to go for the Dermovate. Yes, it's potent but as you describe this as 'a whole new league' if you don't need it now then would you? We're all so scared of steroids but they have a very important purpose and that's to heal the skin. My DS's skin nurse taught me not to be afraid of using steroids when necessary and explained that our view of how much is safe has been totally skewed by scare-mongering.
