Chronic idiopathic urticaria / random swelling

Anyone had this diagnosis? DS1 face, lips, upper palate, throat swell sometimes just after eating. Never the same food - so could be strawberries one day, then eat them the next - no reaction, etc etc. He has coeliac, eosiniphilic oesophagitis too - showed lots of positives on rast but docs here in US say as he has high IgE anyway - he is just an allergic kid and therefore not really physically allergic to the things he tested positive to - if that makes sense. He also has oral allergy syndrome so we steer well clear of things like watermelon, peaches, beans, avocado.

And if you know someone with this, what is their treatment?

TIA

DD had this, it lasted for around 2 years and then went away, mostly, she still has occasional breakouts of rash.
She was treated with cream and antihistamines.
How ever, she didn't have any other conditions.

hi, we have been diagnosed with 'herditory angio-oedema, this causes random swellings as well. inside for e.g chest, stomach, throat, mouth etc, as well as visable swellings on outside.
so far been prescribed a steriod to take every day to control this, awaiting appointment with specialist .

although called herditory , a good proportion of people have this from a mutated gene. But mostly is in familes, and some only get diagnosed after a death in the family.

we also have a complicated list of food and enviromental allergies, and have had unexplained causes for about 2 of his 3 uses of epi pens and anaphylaxis.

so although our kids have diff diagnosis, the swelling sounds very similar to our current life!

good luck!

Hi there. My dd2 has high Ige and is allergic to nuts, treenuts, shellfish and bee stings. She often gets random swellings - the dr has been at a loss to explain what has caused them - it has been on her thigh, one hand, arm etc etc and really does swell up horribly. I was told it was allergy related, but we never worked out what caused the swellings specifically. Angio-oedema referred to by eragon - thank you - I had never heard of this and it could be what dd has, although nobody else in the family has it, so it's probably not herediatary in our case. I would have thought the dr would have diagnosed it when we went in with a particuarly huge thigh swelling for which he prescribed piriton (which we had were already doing....). We haven't had unexplained urticaria though, only when she's been in contact with a known allergen. Our atopic kids have perculiar immune systems - I hope they settle down as they get older, although sadly tree nut and shellfish allergies aren't usually outgrown.

this condition is pretty rare, about 1 in 100,000 have this so many docs havent seen it.
