flax seed oil & probiotics

My DS is 24wks and isn't on any solid food yet. What would be the best way when he's on solids to give him flax seed & probiotics? Do the probiotics come in a syrup or similar? What sort of dosage of each should he be getting? Any suggested foods to hide them in?

Is ther any particular reason for giving them so young ? Think you can get powder form for babies/toddlers from heath food stores but not sure of the age recommendation.

you can get probiotic powders which you can put in their milk (assuming your ds will drink from a bottle?) or mix into their food. I gave my dd Solgar's ABCDophilus (as she wasn't exclusively breastfed). Dosage explained on bottle. Also, if you want to give them oils, you can buy infant omega oils (can't remember the make off hand, go to good independant chemist/health food shop, not H&B), which come in little sort of capsules that you break and mix into food. Would imagine that would go in bottle too....

Mix flax seed oil in with a little pureed fruit. It must be cold, as the oil goes rancid.

Only buy it in a bottle if the bottle is black and stored in a fridge. As a minimum at least not stored on a shelf that is brightly lit (our supermarket insists on putting it with the cosmetics which have lights on each shelf)

Ds's probiotics melt away in plain water, but I mix them in witht the fruit anyway. Just use a teaspoon from the meal and give it first - then you know all the expensive bit has been eaten.
