Piriton dose?

Hello.
I posted before about weaning my baby who is allergic to dairy and had loads of help from you all.
My question now is, if ds has a bad reaction to any new foods, can he have piriton and at what dose? It says it's not suitable for under ones on the bottle, does that mean it would cause more harm than good?
Thanks x

You need to check with your consultant or GP as no MNer should be giving medical advice. However, I will say that we were told by hospital staff that 2.5ml (half a spoonful) was safe to use when DS had a reaction, even though he was under 1.

Thankyou freefrommum!
I understand that mums here are not medical professionals and understand your concern..... but you are often much more knowledgeable than the doctors I've seen!
As we live 10 minutes drive from our GP and 15 minutes from A&E, i thought it better to be aware of whether I can give him piriton if absolutely necessary. Better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks x

No problem. And I totally agree about the invaluable advice on here, just didn't want to get into trouble with MN!

your GP should be able to do a telephone consult with you as this is important.

I know many of us have been told a double dose won't harm, and ceterizine and puriton mixed is fine (despite not being able to buy both together!) but always best to get this info from the GP and have it recorded on the notes that they have advised this!
