What flooring does your Asthmatic child have in the bedroom?

DD has carpet in her bedroom which I now realise is not helping her asthma and I am looking to replace this, was thinking of just putting cheap vinyl down as money is tight but have just read that the PVC toxins found in vinyl flooring are not good either.

Any alternative suggestions.

My boys have very old, scuffed parquet flooring (that was under the carpet when we took it up) as an asthma-prevention measure. Previously they have had laminate.

we've got laminate

you can pick it up for £3 a square meter and if it is a thin twist carpet you can lay it over the top so quite quick and easy :-)

Thanks- by laminate do you mean large strips which click or glue together?

yep that's the stuff -the click fit stuff is really easy to lay

Click-fit laminate in her room and through most of the house now.

My brother had varnished cork tiles when he was little.

My daughter has asthma and we have carpet in her bedroom. Instead of changing the flooring we had this new product Fibre Shield applied to the carpet.

It continuously kills bacteria and mould and also helps eliminates dust mites as kills their food source.

You have to have it applied b a carpet cleaner but i highly recommend it as it has helped our family a lot.

If you go to www.maxfibreshield.com you can then find someone to apply it for you.
