Help - itchy ds!

satine · 01/01/2006 09:35

My 3.3 DS has itchy skin. It seems to be worse on his legs, although there is no sign of a rash, or dryness or any marks at all, other than the red marks his fingernails make. I've tried using Oilatum and changing washing powders but it hasn't helped. Do you think this is an allergy? Or could it be something like bedbugs? Any help v v gratefully received!

warm bath with bicarb of soda in it might help the itch

Are his hands itchy as well? My DD complained of this on and off for about a week and eventually a rash appeared and she got diagnosed with hand foot and mouth - don't panic, it's very common in children

Bed bugs leave marks, and you would also see blood on the sheets

that look like this

No, his hands seem fine. It seems to just be his legs and trunk, really. I'll try the bicarb idea. It's been going on for about a month now, with no rash or scaly patches, which is why I wondered about some kind of intolerance?

Thanks, Martianbishop - I'd always thought the bugs themselves were too tiny to see! Just checked his bed and thank god there are no signs of those grim little critters!
