If so how much do they drink in one day and at what time??

DD (3) has been on neocate lcp since she was 8mths and we have tried her on neocate active today under the guidance of dietician etc.

She tried it 18mths ago and did not react well, diarrea (sp) etc Sad

Anyway, no reaction yet but she is struggling to drink the 2 sachets a day.

The first one is not too bad as some of it goes in her breakfast cereal etc but she has barely touched the second one this eve Sad

Its not the taste but the quantity iyswim.

Just wondering what other peoples routines are with it??

TIA

We are also trying to get dd onto neocate active (20 mo) with not much luck. It's only been a few days but the sachets are huge like you say. She doesn't drink 600 plus mls of milk normally so not sure how to get the neocate active into her. Dd was bf for a long time so she wasn't on neocate before, and I think the taste is a bit of an issue. Although she will drink hemp milk or oatly. We were told to add nesquick to it but that's not helping either. Good luck with your dd. :)

thanks Smile She has said there is no difference in the taste

Its just the quantity

We also had this problem re: quantity but according to the Neocate website you can alter the 'strength' by using more or less water when making up the sachets. We use 190ml of water to make up each sachet and DS (now 4) has one on breakfast (not quite all, but most) then drinks the other one at bedtime. I've no idea why they don't mention it on the sachets themselves ConfusedHope this helps!

ooh thanks, will try that tomorrow Grin

Breakfast one is not a problem, its just the evening one really.

I also think it will be easier when she is back at nursery school too as I make up milk for her to drink there so that will get more down her throat Grin

Just to add that when using less water it does make it a bit more difficult to mix so you will need to shake and/or stir it for quite some time! Good luck.

Well she seemed to cope with the slightly smaller amount to drink today but this eve has been pooing lots (TMI) so not sure if she is tolerating it Sad

Will give it another couple of days.....

Simpson thanks for this, Ds (27mths) had similar poo issues with neocate active. He is back on lcp but I am sure the active will be proposed again. He's doing really well I don't want to change him (i.e. he actually drinks and seems to like the lcp now)

mspotatochip · 27/10/2011 11:07

I hope she does tolerate it

simpson · 27/10/2011 12:02

We have just had the most horrid poo (DD not me!!) Made me

Dietican really wants her on this milk as they are worried about her calcium levels (she cannot tolerate the supplement either)

mspotatochip - glad to hear someone else having the same problems iyswim. GP & dietician are convinced she should be tolerating this milk as its not different to the lcp one, but obv. it is as she is fine on lcp. Hmm

I think its the extra iron, Ds gets horrid diarrhea on even the lowest dose iron supplement but all hcps look at me like I'm a looney when I say so. Strangely enough I have the same issue and so does my mum!

simpson · 27/10/2011 13:22

that must be why DD cannot tolerate the calcium supplement too then, makes sense Smile

Going to give it another few days I think (Maybe to the w/end)

She is not doing more poos than normal but they are horrid iyswim.

Maybe I should try bunging her up with bananas Grin
