I am interested in giving this as a supplement to DD2 with eczema and allergies to nut, dairy and egg. What are the benefits? How do you give it? In what dosage?

Thanks!

I gave this to my dd1 for months when she was a baby ( she is 4 now ) and had terrible eczema, I put a small spoonfull ( about 5ml) in her food. Sad to say it didn't seem to make any difference but it may well work with your dd. Good luck!

I use it for ds - I give him a generous slug with his probiotics and some chocolate dairy food (used to be fruit but I got sick of pureeing!)

His skin noticibly declines if we go away for the weekend and don't bother - but that could be a number of factors really.

Incredible concentration and no tantrums are a great side effect. Also great for keeping poo soft.

Keep in fridge, use within the time on the bottle (either 1 month or 3 months depending on brand IME), only mix with cold food. it will take a while to see any benefits - but rest assured that it does have some good stuff in it and so can't be doing any harm. if after a few weeks you see no improvement increase the dose.

I give fish oil instead - 10ml a day. The advantage of flax seed oil (or fish oil) is that they contain omega 3s. Flax seed oil has to be converted in the body and the conversion process is not very efficient but its easier to get children to take it than to take oily fish. Also fish is a fairly common allergen, flaxseed oil isn't commonly and so it can be given younger. With fish there is also a risk of mercury contamination so you need one that is screened for that.
