Advice on egg allergy?

Bit of background, Dd has a severe nut allergy, I have allergies,
dt2 is 2.2 and ever now and then has a runny tummy,

On Sunday he manages to get 2 eggs out of the fridge and break them, I wiped his hands and cleared up, but then 10 mins later, his face was swollen snd covered in hives one eye swelled nearly shut,
He was very snotty and coughing.
We took him to ooh Gp who said yes looks like an egg allergy, give antihimanies fir the next couple of days,
Any way tonight we had chicken tonight fir tea and I didn't realise it had egg in,
He's had a runny tummy and been really unsettled with a snotty nose and generally poorly.

What do I do now? Should he go back to Gp? Avoid everything with egg?

Help ! He loves cake :-(

egg allergy with peanut is very common, due to similar strands of protein , good news for you, is that egg is often outgrown. and as yr child already can eat egg in cooked form, but not raw , he is on the way to outgrow.

that said, dont give him any form of raw or partially cooked eggs, such as scrambled or omlet. But in cake , thats well cooked seems ok.

high heat changes the strands of protein and thats why your son can tolerate it.

I wouldnt do any home food challenges, but ask for medical advice, ideally a immunoligst who may , after skin prick or /and blood tests, see if egg is outgrown by 5yrs. then arrange for a hosptial food challenge.

my son can not eat any form of egg. its a long story.....good luck.

I'll add a word of warning. My dd was diagnosed with an egg allergy following blood and skin prick tests after a reaction at 19 months.

We kept her completely egg free until she was 3 on doctor's advice. Slowly reintroduced baked things with egg and all was fine.

Then she did like the op's child and broke an egg. The raw egg on her skin caused the same reaction. Hugely swollen face, itchy all over rash etc.

After that reaction she started reacting to egg in cooked things again so we had to go completely egg free again.

She is 5 now and waiting to see an allergy specialist for further advice.

I would be cautious about re-introducing any egg, just in case.

Thanks for the advise, looks like another trip to the Gp then, we seam to live there at the moment, I dread ringing!
His eye is still slightly swollen from Sunday bless horrible to see.

The swelling is very scary, isn't it? I was out at the time it happened to dd and DH had given her antihistamine and it took about an hour for me to get home and even after that time I was shocked by the state of her.

DD's eyes took about 48 hours to go back to normal. She was given steroid tablets as well as antihistamine.

Luckily even though dd is asthmatic it didn't seem to affect her breathing that time. I am still nervous about her having contact with raw egg although the reaction scared her so much she has no interest in touching one.

Hope your ds is soon over the effects.

It didnt make dt2 wheezy either, both dd1 and i get very wheezy after an allergic reaction
