Your poor DS.
DS1 had eczema and chicken pox when he was 2 and it was not a great couple of weeks to be honest. We were referred to the hospital because the eczema did become infected and he was put on 2 lots of antibiotics. We also gave hin calpol and nurofen to try and take the edge off the pain.
I hope that your DS has a good night's sleep, and that your appointment with the doctor goes ok.
I guess that you just have to remember that in a couple of weeks or so it will all be over and he will be ok for Xmas - and he will never have chicken pox again.
BTW - How old is he?

When my dd and ds had chicken pox we were told the last thing you need to do is dry it out as it makes them even itchier. We were given a cream with lignocane(sp??) to keep pox moist. They didn't scratch at all and expect for the actual pox I would not have known they had it.

that would be except not expect.

We used calomine aqueous cream, not the lotion. Again we were told to keep spots as moist as possible - the longer you can keep the scabs on, the less likely they are to scar. Ds was only 15 months, so easier ( than with an older child) to keep him plastered in a layer of cream. He doesnt have eczema though

your poor ds podmog - my sympathies. Both my dds have suffered very bad eczema so I know what it is like. To keep the skin hydrated you could use the tubifast garments used in eczema wet wrapping - you can get them on prescription ( they are expensive, at least £15 per garment) make sure to ask for them in the right age group size ( check on the web). Basically you apply emollient, then wet the garments, wring them out so they are damp, and put them on the body under pyjamas, sllepsuit etc.They do a brilliant job of rehydrating.

Podmog - i am so sorry. Poor wee soul with pneumonia now!! Can't imagine whats it like for you and the children trying to manage such a chronic condition

Thanks for asking. Ds not very well really- reacted to antibiotics with awful stomach cramps and yucky nappies. Ringing emergency docs today as i not going to give anymore- up all night with him 'cos of his tummy. Skin in also awful.

and so it goes on.....

Its my dds and dh i feel sorry for. Mum is providing lunch today- so at least they will get a decent meal!!!!!!
