I gave my DC3 (10 months) scrambled egg and toast for tea. about 15 mins after eating her face came up red and she was itching her eyes and ears.
she is still itching but not as bad .she also looks like she has the beginining of a blister on her cheek. her breathing is fine.

what should I do?
do I take her to the doctor tomorrow or can it wait?

If she seems OK in herself, and isn't sleepy or cold or coughing/struggling breathing, then it can wait. Any doubt AT ALL AT ALL though, and take her to A&E, not the doc! (have done this myself with dd1's asthma before it was diagnosed - made an appointment for trouble breathing, GP turned round and asked me what they'd said at A&E, and was extremely and, in hindsight, understandably Hmm when I said we hadn't been, we'd just made an appointment!)

But definitely an appointment to see the doc, and get a referral for allergy testing. And obviously no eggs in the meantime, and check all ingredients of everything you buy! (assuming you think its the egg?)

Also - if you've got any children's Piriton she can have some of that to help with the itching.

thanks for you reply

we have childrens piriton but it says from 1 year only so reluctant to give it without doctors advice.

I think she probably had egg in food before but this is the first actual egg she has eaten.I definitley think its the egg as she had had loads of marmite on toast before and been fine with it.

She is sleeping now but then its her bedtime so I think she seems to have stopped itching.

My 11 month old ds had excatly the same reaction to scrambled egg and when we saw his eczema specialist a few days later they said it is extremely common for babies to be allergic to egg and they don't really recommend trying it until they are 15 months - not that anyone tells you this beforehand! We have given him piriton for a little while for his itchy eczema (2.5ml) but definitely check with your GP if you're worried about giving it.
