Reoccuring red rash/mark on babys face every time she eats, allergies?

Hi,
I posted a couple of pictures of this on my profile page and would really appreciate anyone with allergy experience having a look for me.

My daughter started getting this red mark on her face when I started weaning her a month and a half ago. It only comes up when she eats (although there have been 2-3 times it has come up near meal time but before she actually ate anything). It can be very pale pink to very red and angry, hot to the touch. It is not raised, there are no hives. She does not have any others on her body. It is not accompanied by swelling or difficulty breathing. it is always in the same place on her face, in the same pattern. It does not bother her in anyway - she does not rub or scratch it or seem distressed when I rub it or clean her face near it.

I have been keeping a food diary but can't seem to find a pattern. One day she will eat something and the mark won't come up at all. The next day I will feed her the same thing and she will get the mark. One day it will be pale with the same food that made it bright red the night before.

I went to the doc about it when it first appeared and was told it was eczema. clearly not eczema but I put the cream on anyway. I went back to a different doc last week who agreed it was not eczema but did not know what it was. He said it did look like the kind of rash one gets with food allergies but since it was not raised he could not be sure. He said since it does not bother her I should leave it till June and come back for a referal to a dermitologist. I am not really happy with that since I worry about prolonged exposure to allergens and her symptoms getting worse. Plus, since I cant find a pattern I dont even know what, if anything, she is allergic to. (no food allergies in family btw)

Anyone see anything like this before?

my eldest daughter had this as a baby when eating tomato based meals... we found she wasn't so bad if it was only tomato puree, rather than tinned tomatoes/tomato pieces. we decided to make sure she was getting tomato regularly in meals having researched minor food allergies and found that regular exposure was often better than excluding food completely.

these days she can eat pasta meals with tomato sauce (puree only) and small amounts of baked beans/ketchup.

blinks was it in the same spot and same shape (dont know if you looked at pics or not) or just that your dd got a reoccuring red mark?
If it was only with one type of food that would be easier to manage but its so random with my dd.
for example, yesterday after her main lunch she had yogurt with a bit of mashed banana, Ella's peach&banana puree and her boots vitamins through it. No red mark. this morning she had the same for breakfast but without the fresh banana and with the addition of baby rice and she got a really angry red mark.

yes she had this on the side of her face on and off plus a more obvious redness around mouth with tomatoes. she also got the red mark on the side of her face when she was teething.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. try antihistamine when it happens and see if it improves.

DD used to have this when eating cheese, doesn't happen anymore. Prob stopped at about 18 months.

reassuring to hear dd isn't the only one and that it was not serious for anyone else's dc. so neither of you eliminated the cause of the rash and it eventually stopped?

DD had it on and off during babyhood and did go on to have asthma and eczema so i think it's just a generalised sensitivity... yes eventually stopped.
