AH is 5 months and purely BF. (This is my first post so pls excuse lack of acronyms!!) Initially she presented with silent and not so silent reflux (same as my 2 yr old) but we soon realised it was more than that. She would often have an extremely uncomfortable tummy and then started getting a rash on her face after every feed which she would frantically rub on anything she could. Pretty much constantly screaming and sleeping for only 20 mins at a time. Also mucus in her nappies.

I stopped dairy and she improved and is also on ranitidine which I don't think makes much difference. We have seen osteopath, homeopath and gastroenterologist but limited change. As long as I keep off dairy she's fine but seems to also react when I eat eggs and went ballistic the other day for hours and then I realised I'd eaten prawns.

Gastroent. reckons probable CMP allergy. HAs anyone else experienced this when they are BF and it is through your milk? If so can I get her allergy tested to find out what else to avoid? Do they then have severe CMP allergy when off BF?

We are at our wits end and on our knees as she's up every two hours at least and more when she's had something she's not happy with :(

See knew I'd get it wrong meant DD not AH !!!! Have just read some other people's posts and realised that there are lots of you out there who have had to stop dairy while BF. I was looking for someone else in the same situation as everyone I speak to thinks it's awful, thanks MN don't feel so alone now:)

Glad you have found some helpful threads. Might want to try keeping off soya - I was told that this can also trigger a reaction in a CMP allergic/intolerant baby. X

DS1 had colic when he was tiny, which stopped overnight when I stopped eating dairy. I was able to reintroduce dairy to my diet at about 3 months but then when we were weaning and he first had yoghurt at 8 months he had a serious allergic reaction. So I would be very careful when you are weaning (and find out plenty of info in advance about what to do in case of a problem), although I have had other friends whose babies have been sensitive to foods in breastmilk and then ok when weaned.
