I have put this in general health as well.
My gp says I need one but I am struggling to find a website in the uk. I found one but you have to be a member and it cost more to join than the alert.
Can you reccomend a website please?

We coughed up for this, it seems a sensible set-up - if costs is an issue, could you simply carry a card with the information? Same effort as putting the bracelet on?

www.medicalert.org.uk/pages/about-us.html
They do reduced rates for those who are on limited income - see the membership page, but I think you have to contact them for full details.
I think wearing a bracelet/necklace is better than carrying a card - if something happens to you, you are wearing the bracelet and it will quickly be seen. But who will know that they have to look through a wallet/handbag/pockets to find the necessary information? Medic Alert have a 24 hour helpline, so any medical professional treating you in an emergency can call and have instant access to all the necessary information - drugs, names of consultants, etc.
