anyone else having problems buying Pure cheese slices?

My 3 yo DD loves these cheese slices and up til now I have bulk bought from our local Waitrose and / or Tesco so I always have some to hand.

However, I have been finding it hard to buy any recently and have just rung Waitrose customer service to find out that they are discontinuing them :(

Have just looked on Tesco, Ocado and Sainsbury's on line and can't find them there either. I am sure our nearest Health Food shop will probably have them but its a bit of a faff to get to.

anyone else having problems or is it just me?

they're like dairylee slices, hopefully I've attached a link to them below

www.puredairyfree.co.uk/cheeseslices.php

I haven't tried cooking with them or 'melted them over a burger' but DD just likes eating them straight out the packet with a sandwich

I'm down to my last 4 slices so I had better track down some soon!

I cant get them in any of my local stores but my BIL gets them for us in Tesco (he lives near Chester)
The spreadable version is a big hit in our house. Dont know what we would do if it was discontinued.

mintyneb · 23/03/2011 10:20

hi chicksy, we tried the speadable version to start with but once DD found the slices there was no looking back!

I might contact Pure direct to see where they suggest I should go now

it would be such a shame to lose something that lets our DCs feel vaguely 'normal' when snacking amongst friends, aside from all the other benefits of course

I contacted Pure about getting them from them directly because of the trouble I was having but they wouldnt agree to do it for me (I'm in Northern Ireland)
Hope you have more luck.

Tesco near Chester was out of stock this week so we have none at the minute.

The boys love the spreadable version mixed in with Pasta. Its such a shame its so hard to get

silverfrog · 27/03/2011 11:41

hae you tried online stores like GoodnessDirect?

I had no idea these even existed - do they taste of soya at all (no hope of getting htem near dd1 if they do!) - would be interesting to try them...

quick update. I finally got round to contacting Pure direct to find out where I could buy the slices from and got an email back this morning. They have said that the company is working on improving their 'cheese' products so the current ones are being discontinued.

they have kept my details and so hopefully I'll find out in time when the new products are launched. Fingers crossed its in time for DD starting school in September!

The pure cheese spread was absolutely boufing, tofutti cream cheese is far superior.

We never tried the slices as I never saw them. Sounds like they were quite good. Hopefully they'll bring them back new and improved!!

mintyneb · 20/05/2011 10:26

agree with you on the cheese spread it was pretty foul! Haven't tried tofutti so will definitely be giving that a go :)

roll on new and improved cheese clices!

Never knew you could get diary-free cheese! Really hope they start doing them again so we can give them a go

UnseenAcademicalMum · 22/05/2011 23:11

I'd definately second the tofutti recommendation. Their cream cheese even makes a really good cheesecake and we use their mozerella to make a really passable home-made pizza. I get it from Holland and Barrett or Goodness direct.

we get our cheese here www.veggiestuff.com/acatalog/vegan-dairy-free-cheese.html
might be worth a look
