Antihistamine question - 4 year old

Trying to change dd from piriton to loratadine for her allergic asthma / hayfever. She's been bad all week and I felt piriton (which really works for her) was probably making her even more tired. Anyway she didn't need piriton last night so tried loratidine this morning. She had a good day at nursery but is coughing a lot this evening. Have given ventolin ++ but this is where we would normally add the piriton but loratidine is once a day and shes already had it!.

Can she have piriton tonight one dose? Off to gp tomorrow for a review, my normal systems aren't working this time!

I hate this time of year

We ende dup giving piriton at 4am in the middle of a huge coughing fit and a ridiculous amount of ventolin. I was at that stay or go stage when she fell asleep and seemed better. Been to docs this pm and been given oral steroids for the first time even though they couldnt hear a wheeze. Different doc to usual. I have been at same surgery with her much worse before and sent home with give her up to 20 puffs of ventolin...........

so will give her the steroids but a bit Confused

need to get someone to review properly

yes you can give piriton on top of loratadine as they work differently. At least so I've been told by paramedics while we mixed an antihistamine cocktail over a few hours for my DS.

It's worth finding out how much of each you can give your DD - it depends on her weight. Your doctor or chemist can do this for you.
Good luck!

I also put pollen barrier balm around bottom of nose last thing at night, it seems to help.
