I've used it ages ago and sorry to say was a big disappointment.

Never used it - Orgran No Egg is very good.

Eaney · 19/10/2005 13:51

Thanks can you use it for cake baking?

Yes, it says to make it up with water first, but I just put a couple of teaspoons in dry. It work better with something acid to set it off - so milk, lemon juice or a splash of white vinegar make it even better.

If you dont want to use a powdered egg replacer in baking use either mashed bannana or mango-both are very good binders.

My child also has an egg allergy and I've been trying to find a place that sells the Orgran Egg Substitute. But no-one does. Any suggestions? I live in south west london. I've tried local healthfood shops and they sell a soy based one, which I don't want. It's the Orgran brand I'm looking for. Any names of supermarkets/actual shops would be gratefully received. Not afraid to travel a little way to get it. Thanks.

I'm in Australia and can get the Orgran quite freely. Sorry can't help where to get it. Other natural egg replacers are 1/4 soy milk, 1/4 cup oil, 2 tbs syrup, 1/4 cup pureed apple or banana. Depends what job the egg is doing, ie emulsifying or binding etc. hth
