Penicillin allergy or just a bug?

Wondered if anyone can help? DD 20 mo has been really poorly this last week. Conjunctivitis, infection in both ears & chest infection. Took her to GP on Thursday and they prescribed Penicillin. Gave her 1st dose @ 12.00 Thursday, second dose @ 7.00pm at 8.00pm Thursday she was massively sick in her cot. Friday am she was sick about an hour after getting up and then again around lunchtime. Didn't give her any ABs on Friday morning or lunchtime as she simply wouldn't take them. Was ok-ish all afternoon had half a banana around 4pm, gave her a dose at 7.00 then 8.00 massively sick in her cot.

There's no rash.

Do you think it's just coincidence? Not sure if she's just vomiting because of whatever virus or if it's the meds?

Was going to lay off the meds and see how she goes but I'm obviously worried about her chest infection etc.

Going back to see the GP on Monday as they wanted to sound her chest again.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Atomant - sounds very similar to what we went through back in Nov with our DS then 10 mo. Ear infection, antibiotics, then he was vomity and had runny tum. I thought it was a side effect of the antibiotics, so didn't press him to continue taking them (he really fought to avoid the meds). As it turns out, I then became ill in the same way so it seems we got a bug & it wasn't the anti-biotics. But you should really speak with a doc before Monday if you can - to put your mind at rest and to make sure you're doing the right thing. Of course, it's all academic if you cant get her to take the ABs anyway.

Hope she's just doing a lot better this morning!

Thanks, I'm coming down with whatever DD has so I guess time will tell!

Hard to know what to do for the best. She's getting really worked up about taking any meds at the moment (had high temp since Sunday and now refusing calpol too, but unfortunately we're feeling like we have to 'force' her to take it as her temp is 39.9 :( )

think I'll do as you suggest and give NHS 24 a call in the morning.

So horrible to see her vomiting she just keeps shouting 'all done' in between bouts of throwing up. Fingers crossed a good sleep tonight will help.

Poor sweetheart!

That's a high temp - you're doing the right thing.
