Hello, my 1 year old baby boy has developed an awfully sore botty with pimples. He is completely off his food, is crying all of the time and not sleeping well at all. He is usually such a happy chap :( I fed him spaghetti bolognaise on Saturday for the first time in a long while and so I am now wondering if he might be reacting badly to tomatoes. Has anyone else experienced this????

Difficult to say... Is he teething? Has he had nasty nappies to go with the rash?

He might be teething as he only has 6 teeth. But he's not dribbling and no particularly nasty nappies.

My kids always got spotty mouths after tomatoes but grew out of it. Odd rashes always puzzle me but usually clear up. Hope his does soon.

But given all the crying, maybe gp trip or ask hv?

I don't think tomato allergy is that uncommon - quite a few mums on these pages have mentioned it. DS used to react with hives and itching (and eczema the next day), but seems to have grown out of it now, although has recently started refusing tomato again.

I have read that tomato is high in histamine, but don't know much about this - hopefully somebody more clued-up will comment...

Apart from anything tomato is quite acidic, so can irritate without it being an allergy iyswim?
