Hello everyone
14 week old DS has had terrible colic symptoms since birth. At 9 weeks he developed bad eczema on face and body. He also has been quite snuffly and mucusy since birth. I have been convinced for a few weeks that it could be an allergy to formula. GP not so convinced and prescribed ENfamil AR as she suspected silent reflux with rantinidine. That was two weeks ago now and he has spent the last 5 days screaming in pain after feeds with terrible wind. Took him to A and E tonight after much deliberating and the doc suggested we try a lactose free formula as we've tried most other options. The pharmacy had Enfamil O Lac so we've got that but I;ve since read that Nutrimagen is a much better option rellay at my wits end and GP and HV being mostly useless any advice out there??? thanks

If it is allergy, the lacto-free formula will be no better, as still contains cows' milk proteins. Nutramagen or neocate are the recommended formulas for milk allergy.

Lactose is the sugar in milk, mainly found in the watery part. You can have an intolerance to this.

Cows milk protein allergy is based on the protein, not the sugar and protein in found in all parts of milk; hence the need to be completely dairy free.
