Nut challenge - would really like your feedback

HI all,

I would really appreciate any feedback you can offer. My son has been skin tested as having a relatively mild reaction to cashews and hazelnuts. We went through a challenge today for cashews and we had zero reaction which I am so pleased about.

It has raised a few questions though and I would really appreciate feedback about your experiences or knowledge on the subject. there seems to be so much conflicting information about...

I guess my big question is, if you've had a good result with one challenge (they feel he has grown out of the allergy), is there an increased likelihood that another allergy will have the same outcome?

I would also be grateful for feedback about whether anyone has gone on to have a further reaction after successfully completing a food challenge. I am still quite nervous about feeding cashews to DS. His reaction was not severe but still pretty unpleasant...

Thanks in advance..

Thanks to both of you for the feedback. It is now so engrained not to give him cashews I know that I will find it hard to start with.

I have just had a new epipen prescribed so I will keep it handy with the piriton too and plan a further test at home when I can give him my undivided attention.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Yep - constant feed of cashew - DS grew out of kiwi allergy, but doesn't like it so didn't eat it and is now anaphylactic to it. Do keep it up,
But we've also challenge tested to peanut and almonds now and both fine and no later repurcussions (sp?) - I'd go for being really happy and working out as many cashew based recipes you can find Smile
