Allergies and behaviour.

Does anyone elses childs personalilty change just before/ during a reaction.

My DS seems to get figity and just seems different.

For example last night we were at a restuarant - 35 of us. DS came over and was just being 'wierd' in how he was talking. I asked him why he was acting funny.Then he went back to the table and I heard him very loudly say 'I'm going to sqeeze sauce on the table'. (not abnormal behaviour but unlike him iyswim) My mum said 'he's fine leave him alone'. 2 minutes later she called me as he had started to get hives on his face and his bottom lip had swelled slightly. Gave chlorphenamine and then he became his usual self.

Is this normal - and anyone know why this happens?

We are seeing pead cons again in February and want to be armed with all the knowledge the wise MN here have.

Ds definitely becomes irritable for a few weeks after a reaction. He often gets a fine rash that works it's way down his body over the same period too.

Do you know what he reacted to? Had he already eaten/touched it before he started acting strangely?

I'm thinking maybe citric acid? It is unknown what he is allergic to - except pollen. He had brown sauce which has citric acid in I think? The really severe reaction he had a few weeks back he had had some tango orange.

We are back at consultants next month.

The sauce comment could possibly be attention seeking but it was just before that he came over and said he really didn't want any more to eat but was was 'strange' with it. Hard to explain. Almost a confusion.
