runny nose, itchy eyes

Myself and my ds2 suffer constantly with runny noses and itchy eyes, for some reason particularly in the evenings. We both also have asthma. We take antihistamines, mostly benadryl, and I use nose spray and eye drops as well, which help a bit. Is it possible to get a prescription for extra strong antihistamines for myself or a 5-yr old? I was hoping once the hayfever season was over things would improve but no...

It's my understanding that higher doses of anti-histamines taken orally are difficult due to increased side-effects.

It's often better (if more hassle) to work on the topical meds.

What drug is in the nasal spray?
What type of eye drops do you use?

Another possibility is that you will do better on a different anti-histamine.
There is some evidence to suggest people do better on different ones.

Sounds like in addition to hayfever you both have a dust mite and/or mould spore allergy. This damp weather is perfect for fungus and mould spores, my kids have been very sneezy, stuffy nosed for a few weeks now.
Have you tried HayMax which you put round your nostrils to trap the dust/pollen/mould spores? Vaseline works too but can make you look very shiny/greasy round your nose!
Do you have anti allergy bedding and mattress/pillow covers?
Wet dust window ledges, picture rails, door frames etc
See if any of these help at all.

Have you tried excluding dairy or other acid forming foods e.g.tomatoes,oranges vinegar etc.?
