Could this be food allergy/intolerance?

DD-19mo-has been having loose, smelly poo for the last 3 weeks. Consistency of bf baby, sort of, sometimes thicker. Colours vary, but within normal range. Quite a few times a bit of stringy mucus.

No unusual farting, abdomen distension, vomiting, eats well.

No new foods introduced, except that perhaps she has been drinking a bit more white grape juice that's good for her teeth.

What shall I do? 3 weeks is a bit long for it to be a viral thing, isn't it? Shall I try witholding milk? Confused

Look up something called Toddlers diarrhoea. It's basically a term that is used for unexplainable stinky, lumpy, loose poo at about your dd's age. Ds1 had it on and off for several months.

Thank you, jollyma. I actually have come across it today, after I posted here. It does make sense, but at the same time they say that drinking a lot of juice seems to be implicated- but they say juice like apple or pear that have high levels of sorbitol- but DD has been drinking lots of grape juice, that is actually recommended when you have diarrhea? Confused

What I mean I was giving it to her to treat it,just that it seems to be not a juice that is associated with loose stools- I think. I don't know. Arrgh.

If you are concerned your gp may agree to send off a stool sample to check there isn't any bacterial infection. I remember being v frustrated but it went away after about a month. It really stunk!

Thank you, yeah, some are ok smell wise, but some...oh my God, I don't think I've ever smelled anything like that.

Well, she had no juice in the afternoon. We'll see what tomorrow brings .
