Yes. Neocate poo can be very dark! This is from the neocate website:

If your child is on Neocate infant formula and little or no other food, it is perfectly normal and harmless for their stools to turn khaki or green, sometimes a very dark green that is close in color to black. The reason for this is that Neocate is a very simple form of nutrition. It tends to get absorbed by the body high up in the gut meaning that very little of its nutrients pass into the large intestine. The large intestine is home to millions of bacteria that perform a number of functions including the breakdown of bile (a green substance) which your body naturally produces. These bacteria get less nutrition while your child is on Neocate and their numbers fall, so reducing the breakdown of bile. This means that more bile is present in your child?s stool giving them a green color. This process is a natural effect of taking Neocate and does not affect your baby.

hope that helps and you're ok

Hi my lo was put on neocate for mucus in her poo And being unsettled. It’s been 34 days and her nappies are still full of mucus and it’s hard to assess if she’s less unsettled. Is this normal

thankyou

This is a very old thread so may be better starting your own.

I'd be keen to get her seen though as after 34 days I'd expect to see a great reduction in symptoms. Neocate is a brilliant milk but it could be that she isn't tolerating something else or something else is causing issues.

It may be worth trying a different amino acid formula.

Good luck!
