Wheat/egg free bread products

Can anyone recommend any bread products that don't contain Wheat or Egg. I generally use the ENER-G bread for my LO who is (amongst other things) wheat and egg intolerant but I would like to make him alternative things with pita, pizza bases, muffins etc and all I can find in the "free from" aisles seem to contain egg. Any suggestions? (Genius contains Egg...)

i also have a great recipe for banana bread/muffins/cakes. i use either the Organ No egg natural egg replacer or if you can't find this your able to add just another banana in it's place. let me know if you'd like the recipe.

Is it wheat he can't have or wheat because it's got gluten?

Just had a look at the kids' juvela bread. It's got no egg but it's got "gluten free wheat starch" so would that be no good?

  • they get it on prescription

Thanks for the replies. Scamp can I have the recipe please, that sounds great. Can you buy the Ener-G pizza bases anywhere? I will look on line. I have never had food stuff on perscription other than special formula so maybe I will ask my Doctor if I can't find on line. Thanks

Hecate it is wheat he can't have.

hi here is the recipe

3 ripe bananas(4 if not using egg replacer)
200g grams sugar
125g butter(i use vitalite)
if using egg replacer 3 eggs worth
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of bicarb of soda
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon(optional but tastes great with it)
250g gluten free flour

Blend bananas, sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla together. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
Pour into required tins and put in preheated oven 180/350f.
Muffin tins around 10-15 mins
loaf tin needs around 45-60 mins

Not sure you can get the pizza bases at any retailers as we live in cumbria so we basically have a poor choice!
If you are under a dietitian they can can organise it.

Hope this helps, if you need anymore recipes just let me know, i've got loads!x
