Positive RAST, negative skin prick tests

dd4 was at allergy clinic today. to follow up on her egg, milk and nut allergies.

we decided to have skin prick testing done to all the nuts, plus pollens and grasses, and housedustmite.

she was not bothered at all by the test, and thinks the little writing on her arm is funny.

however, ALL the nuts are negative. Her RAST tests done a few months ago were positive ro nuts so for ow we still have to avoid nuts, but its looking like she might be in the lucky 10% to be outgrowing nuts. we have managed to totally avoid nuts and not have a reaction yet and she is 21months old.

she is allergic to house dustmites, so i guess i need to improve my housework technique a bit .

i was execting the SPT to show up at least one nut reaction, and am a little confused by it all.

however on the plus side, we dont need to go back for a year and more food challeneges will be done then at some point.

not getting my hopes up. she was nagative to milk and eggs on rast tests, but food challeneges threw up reactions at the 1st stage of dabs of allergen on the skin.

have seen 6 other kids who had negative results to nuts react on the first and second stages as well when we were in having food challenges done. but no idea if they had RAST and SPT done like dd4 has.

dd4 consultant has said we will go in next summer for more food challenges.
