I'm doing well too @ElspethFlashman I'm going out with friends in two weeks so I'll drink then. I'll try and keep away from home drinking.

Have you read all the flashman books?

ElspethFlashman · 26/11/2020 10:14

Yes! Several times! Grin

I'm in for damp December! I've surprisingly really enjoyed my dry November.

So I've had a massively positive mindset today. I have realised that I never regret not drinking, I have never looked back at an evening where I didn't drink and thought it would have been better to have had a drink. Also I have been receiving a few compliments in the last couple of weeks. People keep commenting on my eyes, they don't know I'm not drinking and have randomly asked if I've done my makeup differently, my eyes look big and bright apparently and unusually blue. I feel a lot calmer too. 59 days sober today.

By the way, thanks for the merry Berry mulled wine recommendation- I had some last night and it was lovely.

Can I join in - late to the party though? I gave up over half-term and am still going strong. I found it the easiest five weeks 'dry' I've ever done but not sure why. I think my resolve has just been much stronger. I am intending to keep drinking as a special occasion activity but trying to stay dry for another week or so.

Last year, I did four months with only five days when I drank (one being Christmas Day and another New Year's Day). My resolved was strong until the first lockdown.

Welcome @NewModelArmyMayhem18 sounds like you have the resolve to do this! And well done in your previous dry months. My dry lockdown came to an end last Friday so had a few drinks over the weekend but tbh it was a bit like"so what" and what I did notice straight away was that my resting heart rate went from around 50 to 70 😳 that's a bit shocking! My intention is the best bit more mindful from now on 😀

Hello, long time no speak. So I drank last night for the first time in 87 days!! Kind of underwhelmed by it actually and will probably climb back on the wagon. See some of you on a dry January thread hopefully.
