Sober October - Plan Ahead

I managed dry January, even did Feb! Then the virus hit and I went backwards with the wine drinking and it's really got to stop. So sober October it is (and beyond)..! So, Thursday will day one 🙌 join me if you wish.

Welcome seastate, well done for posting, I've found thread thread really supportive.

Hohofortherobbers · 30/10/2020 07:20

I had such a strange dream last night, I dreamt I was out for dinner and there were several wines on the table, like a tasting menu experience, that I was expected to drink, I didn't sit down and went to find my husband to tell him to get rid of it. Pretty positive thinking in my sleep too Grin

SeaStatePhenomenal · 30/10/2020 07:28

Thank you Hoho. Great that you refused the wine in your dream. 😊

SeaStatePhenomenal · 30/10/2020 07:32

Thank you TeatimeatCloppa 😀. This is my third day alcohol free - my other half (who drinks himself) is getting really pissed off with my drinking - I really have to stop...I don’t want to drink anyway- it really adds nothing to my life - just saps all energy and motivation

ChaToilLeam · 30/10/2020 21:41

Coming near to the end of Sober October! I do feel well, not transformed but definitely a bit more focused. When the clock strikes midnight tomorrow I probably will have a drink, I’m seeing a friend and it will be the last time before lockdown here in Germany starts on Monday. But funnily enough I’m not jumping up and down for it. May well end up doing this again.

SeaStatePhenomenal · 31/10/2020 01:49

Congratulations on doing the full month ChaToiLeam

TeatimeAtCloppa · 31/10/2020 07:20

Well done ChaToil. I would say it is definitely likely that if you do it once it gives you that confidence and belief you can do it, so are more likely to do it again. If that makes sense!!

SeasState it is so hard when you feel the pressure from a partner...you want to be able to enjoy a drink but how can you when you feel a disapproval coming down on you? I was the same years ago, but my DH would lecture me and all it did was drive me underground. I would drink when he worked night shift then pretend I hadn't. Now though, he is drinking more than me as he is working from home. I worry for his health so the show is kind of on the other foot. I am so happy he is doing No Drink November with me,

Hohofortherobbers · 31/10/2020 14:34

Well done Cha, I'm going to keep going into Nov, not committing to whole month yet but will see how I get on. Don't be a stranger x

SeaStatePhenomenal · 01/11/2020 10:58

Yes, @TeatimeAtCloppa - like you I have started lying about my drinking as well - not a good sign! Good your other half going Dry for November though

TeatimeAtCloppa · 01/11/2020 13:10

My friend was telling me the other day Seastate that she too hides it from her husband, a GP as he lectures her if she so much as takes a glass of wine before the kids are in bed. I wish people would see how that approach is just all wrong.
