Help for friend who was adopted - contact with birth father

Friend was adopted within his mothers family after her death, and never had contact with his father or any of his family (33 years or so on). Through a cousin, birth father has now made contact and wants to meet (also is trying to explain away the circs etc). Friends parents (who prev said that they would understand if he wanted to contact)have not taken this well at all. Friend very
confused about the whole thing as never went looking for contact and it just happened, so not prepared.

Anyone got any ideas on where they can get some good advice and support ?

Local services may vary but I am fairly sure that Barnardos should be able to help. May be able to mediate if contact goes ahead and would help your friend through these difficult circumstances with his family

Thanks - it's really hard for my friend as the circumstances of his adoption were tragic, and he was always told that his bio-dad was a b*stard etc, and he's facing finding out what things were really like, as well as facing the wrath of his parents.
