Adoption

Risk of identity theft - should I tell the Agency?

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting in this section but I have been an avid reader for the last few months so thank you all for your knowledge.

We're currently in stage 1 of the adoption process, getting towards the end (medicals done but not yet assessed by the agency, most references back, DBS done etc).
I think there's still some checks to be done and this week I've had a letter from my employer's pension fund to say that nearly all my personal data was taken in a cyber attack and that I may be at risk of identity theft (they've taken NI number, DOB, name, address, salary and employer info etc)
This may seem like a daft question but should I inform the adoption agency of this? The data breach happened some months ago and I'm now worried if someone has done something dodgy with my identity that it'll flag up in any searches the agency will do?

Naturally I've had a google but nothing relevant has come up so I thought I'd ask here as there's some really knowledgeable people in this section.

Thanks!

Hi, what a pain,
I would mention it, probably won't be any issues, but if it stops you stressing about it, it's worth it.

Yeah, I’d mention it too in a kind of “stresses of life” way it’s not going to be a problem but useful if something odd does come up a long the way.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I'll give SW a call and flag it with her as a "head up" type thing

I have had the same notification from my pension provider. Have they offered you free access to Experian so you can monitor for possible signs of identity theft? I've signed up for it for the bit of peace of mind it offers.

I've had that letter to, I would take the offer of the Experian check and then when you mention it to SW you can explain you have taken proactive action.
