Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on adoption.

I don't care what you all think... I LUUUUURVE height and weight charts

I know you are all scornful of height and weight charts but when your child was adopted and all the information you have about their health for the first year of their life is their weight and height measurements, and they aren't even high enough to get on the charts, then they take on new meaning.

When we came home end Jan 2007 DS wasn't even close to the bottom of height or weight charts. Five months ago he was at 9% and weighed and measured this week in honour of his 2nd birthday he is ..... (drum roll)....

about 40% for height and weight for his age - no discounting for prematurity nor nothing

I'm so pleased - he has done so well.

that sounds great! I'm so glad he's doing well

belgo · 08/12/2007 15:44

and well done you

BrandyButterGalore · 08/12/2007 15:45

aw, KC, thats great news. well done to both of you.

of course the charts would mean something to me too if there were any cause for concern, as with your delicious ds who was teeny tiny when you got him.

bahKewcHumbug · 08/12/2007 15:49

the funny thing was when I was telling my mum this today she had completely forgotten how tiny he was. He was in 3-6 months clothes when I met him at 11 months!

Wow - that's really impressive Kew. He's so fab. (and seeing the 2 photos together - the longer hair on you really is nice too).

Indith · 08/12/2007 16:02

congratulations KC! He looks pretty big to me and he is only about a week younger than ds2. Who is still not saying much. Although he has added a new phrase to his vocabulary of "bus bus" and " car car" - its " Hannah BAD" acconmpanied by a pointing finger. Yup, thats one of his sisters

also echo what jackie says - the longer hair really suits you. As does motherhood - you look a year younger in the second photo ! Mind you, you had just gone through a ??? 3 year pregnancy and a VERY long labour.............

KristinaM · 08/12/2007 17:38

Issy - its not tiny its petite

lots of big girls would love to be petite

Jura - the laugh is I bought it cheap for a 70's themed party years ago and liked it so much I can;t part with it (probably because it doesn;t need ironing!)

Issy - I have a feeling DS is going to be bigger than the average Kazakh, I suspect that he hasn't stopped catching up yet and will end up arounf average on the UK charts. Which is of course bigger than the Kazakh average - I was told the average birth weight of babies in kaz is about 5.5lbs compared to about 7.5 (?) here.

Thanks for the commetns about my hair - you wouldn't believe the pressure I was under from my mum to cut it short again. She used to tell me that I wouldn't get a husband if I didn;t have long hair - she's obviously decided I'm beyond hope now

If he carries on growing like that he'll be 8 feet tall by the time he's 16

And you do look younger, so you'll look about 16 by then too...

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/12/2007 12:13

Kew, what lovely photos. He's gorgeous, and all credit to you.

bahKewcHumbug · 09/12/2007 13:11

ah but I can't take any credit for his georgeousness though!
