Hi everyone,
I am looking out a talking photo album for our soon to be daughter we are adopting. Does anyone have one of these or know where to get one? They seem to have stopped being made. Thanks in advance!

There have been a few coming up on eBay lately but you have to be quick! There's also a Vtech one. I think these days a video on a smartphone does a very similar job which is perhaps why they aren't made any more. I like the idea of them though for a tiny child - that the toy would be around and wouldn't depend on the foster carer having to get their phone out and show a video. I went for the Lamaze one in the end, partly due to availability and partly because we currently have four in the family so it works for us.

We’ve been asked to put a voice recording in a teddy before bridging starts to get them used to our voices. What do you say on the recordings? We totally understand the principal, but we’re struggling to come up with a ‘script’ that doesn’t sound creepy! x

lol-it does feel a bit weird. I think it depends on what age they are. Ours is not talking yet so I think it will be just 'hello (their name) "This is (you). We can't wait to see you soon'. We will be doing that or something similar for each photo.

Ours is 15 months old. I just need to stop over thinking it! It’s a weird concept as an adult, but to a 15 month old, it’s simply just a talking bear! Thanks for the advice. x

@busylizzieuk

I did a Build a Bear and recorded my voice in a sound clip in his paw. I also remember stressing a lot about what I was supposed to say. I went for a nursery rhyme, Round and round the garden. I recorded it in the build a Bear shop so there's quite a lot of background noise on it. To be honest DS didn't really have much love for this bear as a baby, but he has found him more entertaining as he's got older, especially when the bear tickles him at the end of the rhyme.

What a lovely idea! Thank you! I think we’d feel more comfortable with that rather than a message from us. x
