Birth parents posting photos in Facebook

Hi,

So the biological parents of our children keep posting old photos of them in Facebook and creating several profiles with their photo as a profile picture. I was wondering if anyone also experienced this and successfully requested Facebook to delete these pictures. I found a way of reporting unauthorised photos of children being posted, but not sure if anyone has ever used this option for adopted children.

Our DC’s BM did this recently, with pictures of contact with DD before adoption. I just thought it was really, really sad. There’s. I need to do anything about it.

Agh, I cannot type tonight. There’s no need to do anything about it.

@donquixotedelamancha,

Take it easy! It sounds like your little one had a horrendous journey before coming to you, but please don’t make sweeping statements. There is plenty of research out there that states many, many children have ended up in the care system because of a lack of section 17 support, not because of abuse. - infact there is a letter in today’s guardian that addresses research commissioned by BASW that reached that exact conclusion. There is also research that states that there is likely to be an epidemic of adults suing LAs in future for failing to adequately support children to stay with their birth families. The Gov’s emphasis on permanency is correct, but it is not helped in anyway by having league tables that are based purely on cost. I imagine there are plenty of adopters on these boards who, in line with the research have been made to feel that if they ask for support from the LA the attitude has been ‘ we’ve given you a child, be grateful’.

Re the photos thing, I just had a though - if they’ve posted pictures with facial recognition turned on then they may possibly be breaching their post adoption contact agreement?
