We didn't adopt in Kingston, but did go to an open evening and I remember there was quite a waiting list to get on a prep course - however, this was about 5-years ago. We subsequently went with Surrey and I found them great and had a fairly stress free adoption process

Wandsworth not too far away and they were great.

Richmond here - who I think are i a consortium with Kingston. No complaints here but it was quite a while ago now.

You should also consider Ealing if you are fairly local - I hear very good things of Ealing both of the process and the support.

Kingston AFAIK will only accept prospective adopters who live outside of Kingston.

I heard a little while ago that they were introducing a 'proper' concurrency programme in conjunction with CORAM. So if that is something you are interested in, and you live outside of Kingston but within reasonable distance, that might make them quite attractive.

Kew's right - Richmond have recently gone into a consortium with Kingston (because Kingston were failing). You might want to try Richmond, who seem pretty good (they wouldn't take me because they 'only have white children'). I eventually went with Ealing, who were excellent.

I didn't realise you were an Ealing girl Devora! I have other friends who have adopted through Ealing.

You got a better reply than me from Richmond though - they more or less told me that they don't have any children that would be suitable (aka you are a sinlge adopter we don;t need you)

Of course this was about 12 years ago now Shock and there wasn;t really much experience of shopping around different boroughs then.

Yes, I thought Ealing were great. An enormous contrast with dd's local authority, who were stonkingly dreadful from start to finish (good to experience the whole continuum!)

And now trying to get some post-adoption support out of Richmond. I'll report back!

Have you got a name of someone there because I have a couple of names if you need one.
