Parenting course - how to get the most out of it??

Hi gals (is that the female version of guys? most of you seem to be gals) and guys.....

Any advice? We are hurtling towards panel, but we are not there yet! If we get through panel we have the parenting course next.

I am excited and want to make the most of it.

It's tempting to think I know it all, which OF COURSE I do not.... so how do I leave my presumptions and assumptions (as a birth mum) at the door and get the most out of the classes, and make the most from getting to know the other parents?

Any advice, welcome.

Thanks.

I think you are half way there. Admitting you don't know everything and willing to learn is a good start.
Just listen, store it all away.
Remember though, most of it goes out of the window when a child actually comes home. Grin

Is this a specific course for adopters or a general one aimed at parents (who may already be struggling)?

Maybe try to think about the aspects which may be different for an adopted child.
e.g. many adopted children do not respond well to time out.
e.g. some adopted children do not respond well to sticker charts
e.g. some adopted children may arrive with significant issues around food which may mean that the rules you have for your BC may be inappropriate for the AC. How would that work for you.
