Adoption of DSD (12) (now DD) went through....it was lovely, we both cried. No need for fatness or stretch marks either, which is a definite bonus.

It's funny, I thought I wouldn't feel different, but I do somehow. She has called me Mum for ages, but I think we both found the experience quite a bonding, emotional thing, I guess because it's been a bit of a long road for us both getting here. Don't know what other people's experiences are, but I feel closer somehow, even though practically nothing has changed.

I suspect it's because you now have the official recognition of the relationship that already existed between the two of you. And you know that should any thing unforeseen happen, her legal position as your daughter is secure ( which is an adult worry). And she knows that you really love her and want her as your daughter, not just as some sort of package deal because you married her dad!!!

I'm very happy for you both, and for all your extended family Smile
