Programme/course leaders - do you get paid extra?

Not sure what the differences are nationwide but I currently get a few £hundred extra a year for this. The university have said they are looking at removing the payment. It’s not a massive payment at all but just feels like yet another kick in the teeth after years of below inflation pay rises.

I know in secondary schools HoDs get extra payment to reflect the extra responsibility.

Feel like saying stuff it, won’t do it then. 😂

I think this is a UCU campaign I would get behind - workload transparency and consistency.

Do any of you have a clear Course Lead job description? They have been rewriting ours for 18 months and with this new discretionary hours thing, it's all a bit up in the air.

Absolutely nothing 🙈. Not that I’ve ever been given anyway.

we have no payments, just workload hours which differ depending on the nature/ size of the course. I’ve been course leader at both UG and PG levels. Wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole again.

Nope! You’re supposed to get hours on your workload but given the fact everyone is massively over their hours it’s meaningless.
The job description of a SL includes course leadership at my university.

No. I've got experience of several Universities and have never heard of this

I have had a new contract issued and it’s like plaiting fog figuring out what that is supposed to comprise of in an FE college.
