Offer to contribute to Sage / Epigeum Wellbeing Hub but money is crap!

Hi,

research-active academic here. I have got an offer to write a course for the Sage / Epigeum Wellbeing Hub. It's absolutely within my skillset (I have written another much bigger online course previously). However, they are only paying £1500 (before tax). It is not a massive amount of work, though I still suspect approx. 5 working days in total.
How do I open negotiation about the money? How much do I ask for? I am far too soft I suspect!

Doris

If you’re doing this in work time - assuming you have a perm contract - then this would go through the contractor rates at the university wouldn’t it?

@bge Thanks. I'd be doing this out of work time I guess (evenings, weekends) - I have never really understood how all of this works with contracting etc. - my understanding is that the university takes a cut of what I am getting?
I thin I'll just pass this one - it doesn't really further my career at the moment and it's a lot of extra work at a stressful time.
