Does anyone have any reccomendations for what jobs (full-time over the summer) a neuroscience student could take up? My daughter has got lots of experience working as barista/waitress etc but is looking for something slightly more relevant to her degree, and tutoring won't be enough hours... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, your daughter should ask at her Uni for summer intern work. Some unis offer paid summer work, though it may depend what year she is in.

You might get more responses on the higher education board. This board for staff who work in universities to discuss workplace issues.

Most universities have a temping agency students can sign up for. The work is varied but some may be relevant

I take students in my lab in the summer for paid internships, but it’s pretty late to arrange now. We can pay them as casual workers on the uni system.

she could email professors at her university to try to get a summer internship. It is a bit late but some people might still take an intern on.

also look on jobs.ac.uk to get an idea of what relevant jobs are out there.

if she is in wet-lab neuroscience, she could look for lab tech jobs but might need more qualifications.

if she is in human neuroscience, then care work of any form or childcare jobs are all very relevant to understanding the human brain and human development.
