Leaving HE

I've worked in professional services in HE for 20 years mostly in KE/impact/project management. I have a professional qualification in project management.
Thinking about leaving the sector and I wondered if anyone has left HE and gone into another industry?
A lot of private sector jobs want experience in their specific field which rules me out.

I was an academic and moved into the civil service in a policy/strategy role. It’s been a great shift. There are lots of project/prog management roles in the CS - on the jobs site search for project delivery, governance or programme management roles.
