Is anyone using a Remarkable to annotate papers etc.?

Hi,

is anyone here using a Remarkable tablet (or something similar) to store and annotate research papers? I am still printing out most papers, but would like to reduce my paper stack. Thinking of buying a Remarkable with Christmas money, but it is a lot of money for sth that may not be used...

Opinions and experiences welcome!

I splurged on an Onyx Boox lumi back in 2020 when working from home with no access to a printer. I originally tried to purchase a remarkable but there was a massive backlog and I got fed up of waiting and cancelled my order. The lumi is larger (almost A4 sized) so easier to work with scientific papers. I really love it and it is nice to be paper-free. My workspace is so much tidier than it used to be. I've heard that the writing experience is a bit nicer on the remarkable than other e-ink devices but I don't really use it much for taking notes just for annotating pdfs and my device is good enough for that.

I looked into it but didn't want to pay the subscription to have everything sync up. Instead I got an ipad + goodnotes and that does a great job. I often don't need to carry a laptop around because the ipad can do email / notes / basic documents etc.

I was considering a Kindle scribe but can't work out if they're any good.
