Analytical framework (Doctorate)

Four months (approx) away from completion of my first draft of my Doctoral thesis for submission and I am having a re-think about my underpinning analytical framework. In a nutshell, I don't think it works as well as an alternative (given a fuller consideration of my data).
Using the new framework would be exciting and I would like to try it as it makes sense to me and helps explain the data better.

However, my Supervisor (who I very much respect) is not impressed and feels this is very late in the day.

Am I being unrealistic?

Four months, you should be dotting the is and crossing the ts at this point.

I would add it into the discussion and be prepared to discuss the potential for alternative framing in the viva. If you think it works better then use it for future publication but it seems a bit mad to tear apart your entire thesis at this point.

Listen to your supervisor. They know the thesis and subject better than anyone on here will. And they understand what's involved in the process of finalising the thesis for submission.

Thank you both.
Have just been discussing this with a trusted colleague, who has helped me see the wood and not the trees.
The idea of understanding the issue through a different framework could very well be explored in future papers and would position my work with current thinking and research coming out of Europe.
