All our academic staff received the email this week regarding VS. Any other Universities in the same position?

We have been through 3 rounds of this over last 5 years. Where are you? They hope to avoid compulsory redundancies this way. She'd staff on a more tempting package and do not replace or replace on temporary junior contracts

UEAStaff · 08/07/2023 20:07

er yes. All over news.
Most the V. retirees were going to retire in next 3 years anyway, so not a lot of true savings.

Yep. We had it a few weeks ago. When I was at a Russell Group Uni a few years ago the payout would have been massive. But it's very small at my current Uni, and we are already 3 staff down. It's a mess.

And sadly, if the UCU gets its way on the "Four Fights" there will be more redundancies, particularly in the post-92 institutions.

Solidarity to you all at UEA. What they're doing to the Humanities there is barbaric.

Same at my place. We are very worried. It is so precarious now.

I am torn with the UCU as I really like my own branch but think the GS is hopeless.

Heard about another round fo redundancies at Huddersfiedl today. When will it stop? I think that some post 92s will be closed or made into technical colleges.
