Hello, if you get academic/professional coaching could you share ballpark costs (uk). Is it per hour or per month or quarterly arrangements? Thanks in advance

per hour usually, although some do packages

previous coach was £600 for 6 sessions, current is 200euros per hour, first one was £40 per hour

the most expensive was def not the best

What do they do?

geentee99 · 18/06/2023 20:04

Thanks @MaybeSwitzerland
@Diddykong i think it is bespoke depending on what you're looking for. I'm up for promotion and have about 13 years left so I'm thinking about how to do that time in control (writing grants, book I want to do), whatever result of promo. Maybe moving on/up. I want to stop dwelling on past and approach the future confidently /contentedly whatever it brings.

mine helped me

  • decide on whether to move institution
  • negociate new challenges and find the right focus
  • prepare for promotion

money well spent!

I'm just looking into this myself - people I'm looking at seem to be about 100/hour so I won't be wanting too many sessions!

Diddykong · 20/06/2023 18:30

I just need someone to teach me how to say no to things!

geentee99 · 21/06/2023 19:52

@Diddykong exactly - it's a skill I've yet to master!

Usually costed per session. I think I paid about £2000 for 6 sessions.

ReallyRatherNerdy · 21/06/2023 21:40

Don't say 'no'. Say 'I might be able to do that, but what would you like me to stop doing so I can fit that in?' 😀
