Academic common room
dreading interviews
movingdisciplineq · 25/09/2022 19:43
Hello,
I asked before about applying for research work in disciplines away from my PhD but more related to my work in the social sector. Well I've gone ahead and applied and have a few interviews next week. I only had one panel interview before (last week) and not sure it went too well (am waiting for feedback).
Just looking for advice/ reassurance etc I guess.

I've recently got a job as a research associate and before that research assistant jobs. My top tip is to read some of the papers written by the lead researcher. Ask questions about them, find out how they relate to the current study or generally ask about the subject area. Basically show a bit of interest in what they're working on. If you have at least a base level of knowledge and interest, especially if its outside your specialism, then it shows you cared enough pre interview to research it
